Focus on food standards

25 August 2015

Holchem, the hygiene technology solutions company, has been involved in helping set up the UK branch of the European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group (EHEDG) and evolving their work in Europe in delivering the highest possible food standards.

The EHEDG is an inter-nation association of food protection, producing practical advice and best practice development through guidelines and hazard evaluation.

As members of the EHEDG, Holchem work as part of a group to encourage and deliver best practice within food processing both throughout the UK and across Europe.

With its headquarters in Germany, the EHEDG provides guidelines on hygienic design standards and practices, test methods for assessment and encourages research and development to continually improve standards.

John Holah, technical director at Holchem sits on the Executive Committee as chairman of the ‘building design’ area.

John, who has been a member since the EHEDG was founded in 1989, said: "Through encouraging good practice and the development of new cleaning products, systems and techniques, the aim continues to be the production of ever-safer food products available for the public across each and every sector Holchem works in."
