The Fairway to get carpet tiles back to scratch

IT'S OFTEN said a game of golf ‘ruins a good walk’ or is ‘a battle between a man and a small white ball’, writes Prochem Director of Sales & Training, Phil Jones.

Golfer or not, one thing we can all agree on is that practice makes perfect and for golfers, that means a few hours hard slog down on the driving range.

But all that practice can leave carpets in the bays looking very ‘rough’.

One particular range in Essex called ‘fore’ some assistance from Prochem’s authorised distributor, Maintenance Supply Company, based in Brentwood.

Managing Director, Ross Osbourne knew the answer and asked us to ‘play a round’ with a couple of machine options to win a game against these filthy carpet tiles.

The golf centre managers liked the idea of the hose and wand Steempro Powermax machine but recognised they needed something more powerful to clean the carpet tiles than with a wand, so I introduced the AC1204 Powermate, power wand.

The Powermate is armed with a 12 Inch cylindrical brush roller that spins at 2500 rpm and makes short work of heavily soiled carpets and weighing only 6.8 kg is a lightweight and manageable piece of kit.

However, due to the heavy soiling, the chemical selection had to be carefully chosen. Ross and I opted to use S709 Multi Pro as a pre-spray along with a dose of B845 Citra Boost, a solvent based degreasing additive, added to enhance its soil cutting capability.

This was sprayed down before the Powermate was used with only the brush spinning, so it agitated the carpet and chemicals together.

Once a dwell time of five or six minutes was over, the Powermax applied a rinse and the result was a winner.https://prochem.co.uk/

With this combination of powerful cleaning detergents, additives, rotating brush roller and a suitable extraction machine, the driving range obviously scored a ‘hole-in-one’!
