Dogs Trust field director, Simon Underwood trialled the Vikan range at the Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in West London.

A colour coding programme was used to reduce the risk of infection spreading from one animal block to another.

Designed for the food processing industry, the Vikan Hygiene System range is said to be durable and effective.

The Vikan team implemented a colour coding system for the five different blocks as well as selecting Hygiene System tools for individual kennel area cleaning tasks. The ErgoClean flat mopping system was used for cleaning the floors in the reception areas, corridors and veterinary suites. Cleaning the kennels required scrubbing brushes, squeegees, shovels and buckets. The water jetting gun was chosen for the outer areas.

Brushes such as the HiLo for walls and ceilings, the tank brush for security bars and grills and the EasyShine kit for windows and tables were also used.

Colour coded wall brackets were installed in each block for visibility and correct selection of tools.
