Tork supports healthcare sector for World Hand Hygiene Day

09 April 2026

TORK MANUFACTURER Essity is supporting the healthcare sector with free trainings, customisable posters and certified Easy to use products for World Hand Hygiene Day 2026.

The company is reinforcing its commitment to healthcare professionals by providing the tools and systems they require to support consistent hand hygiene adherence.

Improving hand hygiene can reduce pathogen transmission in healthcare by 50 per centaccording to the World Health Organization. However, even highly committed professionals can find it challenging to consistently follow the WHO’s Five Moments for Hand Hygiene.

Tork offers healthcare workers free access to Tork Clean Hands Training, which educates users on how to implement the WHO’s five moments for hand hygiene. A virtual reality version offers an interactive and engaging way to improve hand hygiene knowledge and skills.

The Tork Healthy Hands tool enables healthcare facilities to create custom posters, hand hygiene reminders and signage which may be placed with the Tork Hygiene Stand. According to WHO, patients feel more confident in a facility’s cleanliness when they see hand hygiene signage.

And Tork’s certified Easy to use dispensers help to reduce barriers to hand hygiene and ensure that soap, paper towels and hand sanitisers are instantly accessible whenever they are needed.

“On World Hand Hygiene Day we're reminding healthcare leaders that the right tools and trainings are critical to building a culture of hand hygiene that protects patients, staff and visitors,” said Essity’s Healthcare Marketing Director Tom Bergin. “We’re proud to continue offering resources and solutions that support their efforts to improve adherence and reduce the transmission of germs.”

WHO recommends cleaning the hands at five key moments: before touching a patient; before a clean/aseptic procedure; after body fluid exposure risk; after touching a patient; and after touching a patient’s surroundings.

Tork supports the WHO’s annual “SAVE LIVES: Clean your Hands” campaign on World Hand Hygiene Day. This year’s campaign theme is “Action saves lives.”
