Fire flats back in use after Prochem solves soot damage
25 March 2024
CLEANING UP after an arson attack in a block of Liverpool council flats, a local contractor tried and failed to remove soot damage with a generic solution.
With sign-off refused for the property to be re-occupied, solutions specialist Prochem was asked in to meet and advise the council.
“A pushchair in a corridor had been set alight so there was carbon and soot damage from burning plastics residing on all of the walls, doors and ceilings over two floors,” said the company’s Phil Jones.
“The walls and surrounding areas were thick with soot and odour still lingered in the building.”
Phil recommended the contractor use Prochem A217 Ultrapac Renovate on the ceilings. “I knew it would have the least contact time so if it worked there, it would work on all other surfaces,” he relates.
After a small pre-test area was carried out the product was diluted and mixed with A222 Smoke & Odour Neutraliser to remove soot and smoke odour.
“The clean was such a success that the contractor went on to purchase the entire stock of A217 Ultrapac Renovate from our local distributor, Homecare Service Centre,” said Phil.
“The flats are back in public use - so happy residents.”
