Numatic re-tasks R&D teams in a bid to help tackle Coronavirus
20 April 2020
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, Numatic's design & manufacturing teams are working hard to provide support to the government and the NHS. This includes the provision of face masks, face shields and free loan of cleaning equipment for healthcare cleaners.
The company, normally known for its Henry vacuum cleaners, makes more than 1million vacuums every year from its factory in Somerset. Numatic has urgently re-tasked its research & development teams, production specialists and manufacturing teams to work across projects where the company can help in the COVID-19 crisis.
The teams have developed a face shield that is said to be effective, comfortable, reusable and can be manufactured in high volumes, immediately.
The face shields have been developed - and are currently in use - with Worcestershire NHS Trust, West Midlands Ambulance Service, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and The Gibraltar Health Authority.
To assist with increased demand on cleaning teams and maintain service during existing fleet breakdown, Numatic is able to offer free loan of additional cleaning equipment within frontline healthcare environments. Currently, the company can serve NHS providers across the Southwest, aiming for delivery of equipment within 24hrs.
