RJAH Hospital in Oswestry has recently invested in linen trolleys that guard against the spread of infectious disease.

The trolleys are made from a non porous durable Polypropylene which can be wiped, steam cleaned or autoclaved. 40 trolleys have been supplied by Ramon Hygiene Products via I R James Associates, assembled and designed to the hospital's specification.

Linen stored and transported using cages is vulnerable to infection before it's even used.

The Ramon trolleys hold linen securely and are enclosed with lockable doors.

RJAH has also invested in hygiene trolleys for cleaning. The 'modular design' system enabled Martine Williams the facilities supervisor to specify the exact requirements needed to provide what she calls,"the ultimate hygiene cleaning trolley".

The hygiene trolley has a built in pedal system for waste and is secure and lockable. The trolleys claim to hold up to 50% more equipment than basic trolleys and are recyclable.

"The reaction from the staff on arrival of the new system has been extremely positive and they have had a really positive feedback from external auditing bodies," continues Williams.

Susan Sayles, infection prevention and control nurse states,"The Trolleys certainly meet infection control standards.

Because of their design they can easily be cleaned and linen can be locked away securely while being transported to and from the linen room to ward areas."
