Cleaning Excellence Awards winners unveiled
03 January 2023
THE WINNERS of the Cleaning Excellence Awards have been revealed, following an unprecedented number of entries.

The winners were announced at The Cleaning Excellence Conference & Awards, which took place at the Coventry Building Society Arena on 7 December 2022.
The free-to-attend event, which included an exhibition, 6+ hours of CPD content and networking drinks sponsored by The Hill Club, was organised by Western Business Media.
Emotions ran high when the Cleaning Operative of the Year winner was unveiled, with Michelle Sneddon and the team from Apleona UK, holding back the tears as she received her trophy.
The coveted Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Kim Phillips, a director at the British Cleaning Council, member of the Association of Building Cleaning Direct Service organisations, and head of catering and facilities services at Rotherham Council.
Kim was recently recognised in the New Year’s Honours list in January for public service after supporting communities within the borough of Rotherham, including during the Covid-19 crisis.
With colleagues at Rotherham Council, Kim Phillips set up a Covid-19 Lateral Flow Test Centre in the borough and she also shared her expertise on cleaning and hygiene in national webinars throughout the pandemic. She also helped prepare meals for children during school holidays, helping to pack 3,000 school hampers for Easter with help from her family.
Jim Melvin, chairman of the British Cleaning Council said: "When we first heard that Kim had been included in the Honours List and was to be awarded the MBE, I think everyone just felt so genuinely pleased that it could not happen to a nicer or more genuine lady.
"Kim is an expert professional in her field, but is always so humble and unassuming and you simply couldn’t be anything other than happy to hear the news. Just as importantly the award was a great reward to Kim’s family and also to the industry that she represents with such passion and knowledge. Well Done Kim--- you thoroughly deserve this and enjoy the rewards that you have earned!’
