Manchester Cleaning Show exceeds 2016 debut
19 April 2018
The British Cleaning Council (BCC), who co-produce The Cleaning Show with Quartz Business Media, has reported that the second Manchester Cleaning Show was bigger and busier than the inaugural event two years ago.
Held again at Event City in Trafford, the 2018 show (April 11th -12th) attracted over 2,400 visitors. This was nearly 5% up on the first North West show in 2016.
Registration data has revealed that a majority of visitors to the Manchester show were cleaning professionals, who made up 64% of attendees. Other visitors were drawn from the FM, education, health, social care and hospitality sectors.
The number and size of stands was also substantially greater than the previous Manchester show, with the event attracting 27% more exhibitors and taking up 40% more floor space.
The BCC has also reported that the show attracted delegates from over twenty different countries. This included a Chinese delegation from the Wuhan Cleaning Industry Association who were hosted by BCC member, the CSSA.
Stan Atkins, Chair of the BCC, said: “After the incredible success of the first Manchester Cleaning Show there was some nervousness that the very impressive visitor numbers from two years ago could have been in part driven by the novelty value of a new show. Further, we had BBC Breakfast broadcasting live from the event on the first morning which gave us incredible exposure nationally, which in turn generated some extra footfall on the second day.
“However, these fantastic figures demonstrate that there is an appetite among both exhibitors and visitors to sustain a regional edition of the event which can successfully alternate with the main Cleaning Show in London every two years.”
Vanessa Van Santen-Smith, Event Director for Quartz said: “The feedback we have received from exhibitors and visitors has been remarkable and we’re thrilled that the Manchester Cleaning Show is now established as a regular date in the calendar for cleaning, hygiene and FM professionals.
“It’s now full steam ahead as we look forward to the Cleaning Show in London in March 2019 where we will see an even larger number of major international brands, and more domestic and overseas visitors, attending what is the UK’s premiere cleaning event.”
