Good hand hygiene saves lives
22 June 2016
A recent report has proven that hospitals are taking hand hygiene seriously with one in six scoring 100 per cent for cleanliness.

The NHS PLACE patient-led assessments included the inspection of hospital bathroom and hand washing facilities for cleanliness. The PLACE assessment has been created by the NHS to give the public a chance to judge the services in the NHS and private healthcare sector.
The NHS-led campaign Clean Your Hands, which since its implementation in 2004 is estimated to have saved over 10,000 lives, has played a big part in bringing hygiene to the forefront of hospital requirements.
TEAL Patents – the manufacturer of portable, hot water, hand wash units that require no access to mains water or drainage – has supported the campaign since it began.
MD Manty Stanley said: “Clean Your Hands encourages medical staff to follow effective hand washing actions before and after treating patients and has seen tremendous success.
“Hospitals must now ensure staff, patients and visitors always have access to hand washing facilities wherever and whenever they may be needed, in order for individuals to play their part in preventing the spread of illness and infection.
“In support of infection control departments, TEAL designs and manufactures a range of portable hand wash units to ensure standards of cleanliness remain high."
TEAL’s Stop n’Wash is a portable hand washing unit which allows staff and patients to have constant access to warm water andl hand wash facilities.
Designed to educate and encourage the correct hand washing procedures through its synchronised display, the Stop n’Wash incorporates the seven hand rubbing actions as laid out by NHS guidelines. Fully automatic and touch-free it ensures hands are not re-infected at any stage during the process.
