Fast delivery helps Ebola fight
24 November 2014
The Department of Health has stated that the risk of Ebola to the general public in the UK remains very low. However, four major UK hospitals are on standby to deal with any outbreak with isolation units in place and more hospitals are expected to follow suit.

In support of infection control departments and facilities managers within the healthcare sector, a fast response service has launched. The TEAL Task Force (TTF) will make portable handwash stations available for immediate hire within 24 hours, suitable for small and secure isolation wards being set up away from main hospital wards.
TTF personnel will deliver and install each hired unit ensuring it is fully operational and ready-to-use as well as providing the relevant staff with training on how to use and maintain the hired unit. The service is provided by TEAL Patents, which has worked with the NHS for over 15 years and understands the ‘need for speed’ to mitigate the risk of the spread of infection in medical environments.
TEAL MD Manty Stanley said: "It is important to remember Ebola can only be transmitted from one person to another by contact with blood or other body fluids. In the event of any new cases, isolation protocols can help stop the spread.
"Hand hygiene is considered one of the most important procedures in the prevention of cross-contamination and cross-infection. Washing hands with soap and running warm water is the gold standard in hand hygiene care."
