Infection prevention task force
27 October 2015
Infection control departments and health estates managers are set to benefit from a fast response service – the TEAL Task Force (TTF) – which has been created to help tackle medical emergencies with a ‘next day’ delivery of hired, portable, hand wash units.

TEAL Patents – a manufacturer of portable, hot water, hand wash units requiring no access to mains water or drainage – launched the service in September 2014 as a solution for when units need to be hired at short notice due to infection outbreak or plumbing failures.
The Stop n’Wash is TEAL’s most recent portable hand washing unit and has been designed in collaboration with infection control professionals to ensure it meets their needs.
Available through TTF, it educates and encourages the correct hand wash procedure through an automatic on-screen programme which incorporates the seven vital hand rubbing actions laid down by NHS guidelines to ensure hands are clean and germ free.
For use by staff, patients and visitors, TTF personnel deliver and install each hired unit ensuring it is ready to use. TEAL will also provide training to relevant staff, such as hospital estates departments, on how to use and maintain their hired units. TEAL’s safe and fast solution is designed to help contain the spread of infection which in turn will reduce the likelihood of ward closures and keep patients and staff protected.
