CSSA votes to leave Building Futures Group
07 January 2015
The Cleaning and Support Services Association (CSSA) has voted to leave the Building Futures Group (BFG).
It is understood that the CSSA, which merged with the BFG in March last year, voted on the change at an extraordinary general meeting held on 24th December, 2014.
In a joint statement, the CSSA and the BFG said that "CSSA members wish to focus on the contract cleaning sector and are now considering their options. The Building Futures Group will continue to focus on the Facilities Management sector but also support the wider cleaning sector."
Membership body The Building Futures Group was formed last year following the merger of the CSSA, sector skills council Asset Skills and the Facilities Management Association (FMA). The aim was to develop a national body to represent the housing, property, planning, cleaning, parking and FM sectors.
The CSSA is the second organisation to end merger negotiations with the Building Futures Group: the BIFM pulled out of the proposed merger in September 2013.
