Peruvian rainforest communities have thanked Britain's van users for helping to protect them from destructive logging. When UK firms monitor their exhaust emissions with CO2Count, the charge includes a donation to Cool Earth.

'We are so grateful. You are protecting the rainforest and making a better world for all of our grandchildren,' says Cesar Bustamante, an Ashaninka village elder, pictured.

Steve Clarke heads marketing for The Fuel Card Group, providers of the CO2Count service.

He says, 'Although each individual Cool Earth donation is only a few pence, the combined donations mount up. Anyone running a van is able to make a real difference.' In 12 months, CO2Count users' donations of £78,764 have directly protected 1,310 acres of rainforest.
