Energy and water savings from Nilfisk

02 August 2024

NILFISK, A leading global provider of professional cleaning products and services, used Interclean 2024 as a platform to concept launch a new innovative range of products show casing Nilfisk’s next generation of cleaning solutions including the SC550 scrubber dryer.

Here in the UK we can expect to see this products reach market by October this year but until then there is much we can learn from this forward thinking and innovative cleaning manufacturer.

Nilfisk, a leading global provider of professional cleaning products and services, has launched the SC550 cleaning machine as a part of the company’s next generation of products. The SC550 uses 28% less energy than previous models, helping to lower emissions and create a cleaner and more resource-efficient future.

With innovation, ergonomics, and sustainability at the forefront, Nilfisk is proud to unveil the curtain of the next generation of cleaning machines. The SC550 supports the vision for a cleaner, more sustainable future and a dedication to addressing the evolving needs of our industries and communities.

Global director of ESG and Sustainability of Nilfisk Malene Thiele, said: “We wish to create a cleaner future for the coming generations by embedding sustainability into everything we do. The SC550 has been developed with this ambition in mind, significantly decreasing the use of water, energy and detergent consumption – along with the possibility of an even longer lifespan due to the possibility of easy repair. All this is bringing us one step further to deliver on Nilfisk’s sustainability commitments.”

Building on Nilfisk’s pioneering heritage, extensive global network, reliable and high-performance products, the Nilfisk SC550 is developed with an ideal of circularity at its core. It is prepared for recycled plastic and from 2025 the machine will contain up to 30% post-consumer recycled plastic. This is reflected in the colour of the machine, which has been chosen to make the use of recycled plastic possible.

Resource efficiency by default
Innovative design ensures a significant reduction in the consumption of water, power and detergent. The SC550 has built-in efficiency settings. Based on internal calculations, this can save up to 20% on energy, 40% on water, and 60% on detergent use compared to machines without this technology. This not only helps save resources, but it will also lower the cost of operating the machine.

Finally, the SC550 is designed for disassembly at its end of life. By reducing the number of metal-inserts it is faster to disassemble using fewer different tools.
