Cleaning solutions firm Holchem acquired by Ecolab
18 December 2018
Ecolab Inc., the water, hygiene and energy technologies and services specialist, has acquired Holchem Group Limited, a UK-based supplier of hygiene and cleaning products and services for the food and beverage, foodservice and hospitality industries.
Holchem operates in the UK and Ireland, and the company’s 2017 sales were approximately £43 million.
Speaking about the acquisition, Sam de Boo, Ecolab senior vice president and general manager for food & beverage and Nalco Water, an Ecolab company, in Europe, said: “Holchem’s strong technical capabilities and service model align well with Ecolab’s commitment to helping customers uphold stringent food safety standards.
"We look forward to combining our teams to better serve food and beverage and foodservice customers in Ireland, the U.K. and throughout Europe.”
Simon Bell, owner and managing director of Holchem, added: “I am proud that our family company is joining forces with Ecolab, a global leader in the food and beverage industry. It is a great recognition of our teams’ ability to consistently deliver on our promises to serve our customers that has driven our growth in the industry. Our offering and expertise complement one another, and our customers will benefit from our combined world class service and high-quality offering.”
The acquisition is subject to clearance by the Competition and Markets Authority, which is anticipated to occur in early 2019, and both businesses will continue to operate separately until the acquisition has been cleared.
