Championing cleaning and FM excellence

31 May 2018

The annual Facilities Show is tailor-made for the evolving role of cleaning and FM professionals. Brand director Chris Edwards previews the facilities management event and outlines its mission to foster professional excellence

Cleaning and facilities management’s vital contribution to an organisation’s success not only has significant impacts on the premises involved, but also far wider socio-economic benefits for the economy and country as a whole. Facilities Show 2018 is designed to inspire and help FM individuals develop professionally in a sector which is rapidly evolving with new innovations and technological developments.

A host of exciting new features are set to inspire over 11,000 global cleaning and FM professionals attending the world's largest dedicated facilities management event at ExCel, London from 19th-21st June.

Inspirational speakers

Fresh for 2018 is a new look seminar programme, meaning even more leading cleaning and FM industry speakers. They will share practical and strategic advice about protecting and managing building assets including how to stay compliant as the industry progresses. Across the different theatres, a packed schedule of complimentary seminars and informative workshops cover key issues and industry trends. Themes include: the workplace, technology in facilities management, people in FM, flexible working, and total FM solutions. Once again, a line-up of renowned star speakers will headline the Keynote Theatre to inspire and motivate the FM sector.

Wealth of innovation

Over 300 suppliers will be showcasing the latest innovations and cost reducing solutions for site requirements. The event covers all FM sectors from cleaning, maintenance and gritting, to mechanical and electrical, energy and waste management, catering and much more. Examples include innovative cleaning systems from companies like consultant and equipment supplier Denis Rawlins; waste reduction and recycling services from experts like Viridor; and lifts, escalators and moving walkways from trusted names like Stannah.

The new Health & Wellbeing zone highlights the importance of staff welfare to enhance productivity and performance. Exhibitors offering future workplace solutions include Humanscale and Mother Group.

One-to-one meetings can also be pre-booked in advance with suppliers, allowing you to maximise your time at the show.

Smart procurement

At this year’s show, the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) will be hosting a free Smart Client Programme to equip attendees with the knowledge and tools to make smart procurement decisions.

The skills required to manage and sustain contracts are more important than ever. There is immense value – and long term sustainability – in smart buying decisions. The cleaning and FM industry must mitigate risks and strategically improve efficiencies – to thrive, not just survive.

The free training towards becoming a ‘smart client’ will be repeated on each day of the exhibition and will be followed up with a practical session where delegates can try out their new skills on potential suppliers. Spaces are limited so you are advised to book early via the events section of the BIFM website.

Grow your professional network

The expanded event, held in association with BIFM, provides multiple networking opportunities, including the Facilities Show Sports Bar. Back by popular demand, the new and improved FM Games Arcade provides the ideal space for friendly competition and networking with peers. Networking groups will all host society gatherings at Facilities Show – join them and your other facilities professionals and connect over refreshments.

Develop your specialisms

Free to attend, Facilities Show 2018 is co-located with five other industry leading shows: IFSEC International; Field Service Management Expo; Safety & Health Expo; FIREX International; and Professional Clothing Show. The shows cater for those working across many departments, including building management, and protection and safety of people.
