LCC fills top spots

11 July 2016

LCC Support Services, the independent national contractor, has filled two top positions to strengthen its management team and drive the business forward.

Gerry Askew joins as commercial director and Phil Smith as sales and marketing director.

Bob Vincent, who remains executive chairman, said: “The business is already well over £20m and on target for £30m. We are building an alternative to the very large cleaning contractors, so we need highly qualified and experienced directors for key responsibilities.”

Gerry, started as a security guard on £2 an hour working up to FM director of SGP, now Bellrock. He was in-house facilities manager for TV AM for 10 years and four at MTV. His clients included Cisco, Cable & Wireless, Her Majesty’s Treasury, Camelot and many Public Private Partnership Projects.

Gerry said: “In an industry where the big boys are constantly getting bigger, the continued existence of smaller, high quality independent service providers is critical to ensure real viable choice.”

Phil started in sales for Rentokil Initial and was divisional director for Syra Business Services plc (now Cordant). He was commercial director for Indigo Services and continued after the Facilicom acquisition as a director working closely with the largest global FM groups.

Phil is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaning, a Member of BICSc and the BIFM; Founder of The Hill Club and is a supporter of human rights and the Living Wage Foundation.

Phil said: “I am very excited at joining LCC. It is a business with a big reputation for all the things I believe in – quality, service, customer care, training and fair pay. I am looking forward to raising sales for this top team.”
