Clean & cared for skin
07 October 2014
Kimberly-Clark Professional has launched ‘Infection Prevention – it’s in your hands’, a new programme to help nurses and hospital staff eliminate skin irritation as a barrier to good hand hygiene.

Skin irritation is said to be the number one reason for the failure of hand hygiene compliance in hospitals, leading to an increased risk of the spread of hospital acquired infections among patients, which costs Britain’s hospitals an estimated £1 billion a year.
The new range of colour-coded AQUARIUS Dispensers provides all the products required to follow the ‘wash, dry, sanitise and condition’ protocol that Kimberly-Clark recommends. It will help nurses and hospital staff maintain high standards of hand hygiene while keeping their skin healthy.
The KLEENEX Range contains a gentle but effective foam hand soap, soft folded or rolled hand towels that are kind to the skin, a moisturising alcohol hand sanitiser that leaves the skin feeling soft, and a hand and body lotion that conditions the skin without leaving it greasy.
Education programmes available to hospitals include an online survey on hand hygiene protocols, a detailed training module to educate nurses on the risks of skin damage and how to combat it, and the staging of hand hygiene awareness days.
