Bridge over troubled water
31 March 2014
Community Clean are in the final stages of completing the regeneration of both Bridge St and High St bridges in Guildford – a subcontracted project from Kier Services for Surrey County Council – within the promised timescale despite severe floods.
In November last year, the company's experts began refreshing and regenerating these central town structures including minor pavement repairs, pigeon prevention and brick cleaning and graffiti removal, as well as quality and intricate painting.
Due to severe weather, water levels rose by around three metres in the Bridge St location over Christmas causing the area to become too dangerous for work to continue. Although this delayed the project by two weeks, Community Clean were back on site in early January and clawed back the lost time.
Operations director Martin Izzard said: "It’s been a great challenge for Community Clean so far as it is one of our biggest infrastructure projects to date. Whilst it has not been completely problem-free due to flooding issues back in December, we’ve managed to suitably overcome the situation and are excited to reveal our great work over for client inspection within our initial quoted timeframe.”
