Any business running vans needs to start working on its emissions strategies now, according to Steve Clarke, general manager of The Fuelcard People. 'Transport emissions may have been left out of the Carbon Reduction Commitment,' he says, 'but DEFRA will be requiring publication of emission figures from next year.

'We developed the CO2Count service knowing that such legislation was inevitable, and in delivering emissions monitoring, we simultaneously make an impact in threatened rainforests.' The Fuelcard People makes a donation to Cool Earth, Europe's fastest-growing environmental charity, for every CO2Count Certificate issued. These are available to its customers and detail emissions.
