This years Carpet Cleaners Carnival , alongside VanFest, was a great day out for all the family, giving the industry a chance to network in all the fun of the fair

On Saturday 15 September, cleaners from all over the UK visited Wicksteed Park in Kettering to attend the Carpet Cleaners Carnival (CCC), together with VanFest, arranged by Clean It Up.

Organised by the National Carpet Cleaners Association (NCCA) the annual carnival is unlike other industry events, as the main focus is on fun for all the family.

The NCCA strongly believes in engaging with cleaning professionals and keeping up with best practices and cutting-edge ideas within the industry. 'In today's challenging environment, it is increasingly important for cleaning companies to work together to help preserve the industry's professionalism,' says Nigel Lay, NCCA events director. 'The carnival provides a great opportunity to speak with manufacturers, view new product launches and network with likeminded people.' CCC 2012 also featured VanFest, an event where cleaners are able to showcase their vehicles, inside and out, and enter into a competition for the best presented van.

The carnival, which was visited by over 200 people this year, included an exhibition of major industry manufacturers and suppliers - many of whom were showcasing new products - along with business support organisations and other relevant bodies.

Visitors were able to view equipment and attend excellent demonstrations on rug and upholstery cleaning delivered by seasoned professionals Paul Pearce, NCCA president, and Glyn Charnock, NCCA membership director.

Additionally, honorary member and past NCCA President, Derek Bolton, was present to answer technical questions and impart his vast personal knowledge.

For the less industry-minded there were stalls including cupcakes, holistic therapies, jewellery and cake decorating. For the kids there was face painting, a toy hunting competition and games. Festivities continued into the night with food and live music from The Shamlas.

The carnival was again pleased to support Kirsty's Kids. Member John Bryden, who runs the charity in honour of his daughter Kirsty and her work to help sick and underprivileged children, wrote to express his gratitude. With various activities throughout the day, including an auction and a raffle, he was able to raise an incredible £2,479.44! 'We would like to say a huge "thank you" to the visitors and their families,' says Keith Robertson, NCCA marketing director.

If you would like to attend next years' event either as a visitor, or exhibitor, please contact the NCCA using the number on the right.
