The British Institute of
 Cleaning Science will be
 launching the 'BICSc Cleaning
 Professionals Skills Suite' at the
 Cleaning Show 2011.

The BICSc Cleaning Professionals Skills Suite (CPSS) is an assessment scheme for accredited training in the cleaning industry.
The CPSS will initially be used to support, or as an alternative, to the Cleaning Operators Proficiency Certificate (COPC), and will include three mandatory units that are for the safety of the operatives, the users of the building and the sustainability of the building. These are: Chemical competence, equipment safe use and care, and storage of chemicals and equipment. There will also be 25 core tasks to be delivered, as well as specialist tasks available (some of which are still in development) to suit a variety of environments and their requirements.
With 25 different environments to choose from, the CPSS has been designed to be more flexible for businesses. Previously operatives would have to complete 10 tasks with each stage of a Certificate within COPC.The CPSS allows candidates to only have to learn what is directly relevant to them and the environment that they clean within.
