Keep up to date on key issues
21 February 2017
The Cleaning Show is back at the ExCeL in London’s Docklands on 14-16 March, and the organisers are pulling out all the stops to make it an event to remember. Cleaning Matters provides a sneak preview of the educational seminars on offer
Once again the Cleaning Show will offer plenty of networking opportunities, thousands of product launches, demonstrations, awards ceremonies, and much more. But this year the British Cleaning Council is urging visitors to get along to one of the many seminars taking place, as a number of industry experts will address issues that will be important to anyone running a cleaning business in the UK.
Topics up for discussion include: marketing, immigration enforcement, apprenticeships, health and safety, the Living Wage, the environment and what the future of the industry might look like.
The seminars run across the three days of the show (14-16 March) starting with an opening address from MP Jim Fitzpatrick, and a keynote address from Alison Ogden-Newton, chief executive of Keep Britain Tidy.
The first day also sees a keynote speech and seminar from Chris Edwards, who is assistant director of the Home Office Immigration Enforcement unit. He’ll be looking at illegal workers in the cleaning industry and ways to tackle the problem from an employer's perspective.
The second day will look at how to market a business in the digital world, and there will also be a special focus on health and safety, with a number of officials from the HSE delivering seminars on issues like, ‘occupational respiratory health in cleaning’ and ‘preventing slips and trips’ with senior policy advisor, Tracy Hamilton, showing delegates how to make their businesses safer and stay on the right side of the law.
The seminars will also run on the third day of the show, where an expert industry panel will look into the future of the cleaning industry at areas like robotics.
All seminars are free and everyone who visits the Cleaning Show is invited to attend.
