'Segregation at source' solution
23 February 2016
The Meridian recycling bin from Leafield Environmental, which was designed in partnership with the University of Greenwich in 2012, will be on display at ISSA/INTERCLEAN Amsterdam.

It was designed to make recycling easier by using interchangeable lids to separate mixed recyclables and non-recyclable waste at source.
The 110 litre version was initially designed to offer two waste streams in one unit with a 70:30 split of mixed recycling and non-recyclables. A triple lid version was quickly introduced and further customised lids added including a liquid reservoir. A 100% lid option was also developed to meet individual customer requirements.
A removable liner was developed for the 110 litre version for Bath Spa University, who wanted to adopt a bag less approach. A smaller 87 litre version was then recommended by Coventry University for use in an office environment.
Customers can reconfigure the bins to suit their changing recycling requirements without the need to purchase further bins. The Meridian range has evolved significantly since its introduction, resulting in a flexible waste collection and ‘segregation at source’ solution.
Leafield will also be showcasing its new stacking bin, EnviroStack, and best-selling pencil, ladybird and penguin novelty recycling bins.
