Sky Television UK studios
AWetrok iMatic XR85 machine has been provided by Jigsaw Cleaning, to help housekeepers and production staff at Sky Television's Middlesex studio. The machine will ensure floors can be cleaned and re-painted much more quickly and cost effectively than before.
'The production team here need to be able to change the colour of the floors in the studios regularly, depending on the programme being filmed,' explains Ronald Roe, senior property master for Sky.
'Things are complicated slightly by the fact our studios require special resin-based flooring to ensure complete smoothness for our cameras to film on. Even the slightest bump can be visible on screen, so we are faced with quite a unique challenge keeping them both clean and ready to be changed at short notice.' The broadcasting giant produces a range of programming at its Middlesex studios, including sports programmes, game shows and programmes for Sky Arts.
After trying other systems and finding them limited, Roe enlisted the help of Jigsaw Cleaning Systems, based in Preston, to help find the best solution. Jigsaw recommended one of Wetrok's scrubber dryers, and the results have been impressive.
'We had tried a couple of other solutions,' says Roe; 'We tried using chalk-based paints and easy-peel latex flooring, but both processes were not without flaws. By using special water-based paints, which can later be deep-cleaned using our Wetrok machine, we have found the answer to our problems.
'There are huge savings associated with the Wetrok, in terms of time and money.
The process now takes half as long and costs half as much as it did previously.
It's also extremely consistent, which is crucial to us.
'We should have gone down this route a long time ago, and we're glad to now be feeling the benefits.' Brian Boll, systems director at Jigsaw Cleaning, says, 'Sky is clearly reaping the rewards of a more efficient and cost-effective system of deep cleaning.
'Jigsaw is happy to have helped Ronald find a solution to an unusual problem, and we're looking forward to seeing the outcome on our screens in the near future.' Contact the company for further product information.
