The cleaning industry came together on Thursday 24th May at Devere Dunston Hall, Norwich for a Charity Golf Open Event. A wide range of businesses supported the event including washroom hygiene manufacturers Vendor who created an amusing way to promote part of its range of hygiene wiping systems, by customising a dispenser and placing it alongside a green of the hole they sponsored.
Almost fifty players enjoyed some superb weather at a course that everyone commented upon being in excellent condition, this was further complimented by the Golf Manager and resident Pro Richard Tidy, who made everything run extremely smoothly and contributing prizes for 'Beat the Pro', Nearest The Pin, Longest Drive and the additional impromptu raffle for Sparks Children's Medical Research Charity. There were some Golf Academy students from Easton College playing in the event, sponsored by businesses including Bluefin Insurance Group, Capital Cleaning & Hygiene Supplies and Biobased Europe. These were young lads aiming to make a career in golf, though they reported back afterwards saying how much they enjoyed mixing with the business people in this industry on the day.
During the day nearly £3,000.00 was raised for Marie Curie Cancer Care and East Anglian Air Ambulance, which was split equally between the two nominated charities and presented at the CSSA Offices in London thanks to the kind help of Andrew Large. In addition almost £400.00 was raised via the impromptu raffle (made possible by mostly local donations, including a tour of St George's English Whisky Distillery at East Harling) for Sparks.
