IDSP accreditation for Digital ID
03 February 2023
THE GOVERNMENT'S new Digital ID was formally introduced on 1 October 2022. This new process facilitates remote recruitment for UK and Irish citizens holding valid passports. If you’re considering online ID authentication for your Right to Work process, it’s important you work with an Identity Service Provider (IDSP) to ensure you receive your Statutory Excuse.
IDSPs are companies who’ve been audited by a UKAS approved certification body and offer products to help you perform your ID checks. The audit is carried out against the UK digital identity trust framework and companies that pass receive the relevant kitemarks.
uComply has announced that it has successfully gone through the extensive auditing process and are an accredited IDSP. To support this accreditation, it has launched a Digital ID service, uIDentify which allows you to complete the following process:
- Send your prospective employee an invitation to upload their own ID documents
- On receipt of the documents ID authentication checks are performed using Biometric data, liveliness, and facial recognition.
- A pass/fail notification will be sent to you within 2 minutes. This document forms a critical part of your Right to Work process.
Working with companies such as uComply help by ensuring you get a Statutory Excuse that means you won’t get fined, (in some cases up to £20,000 per illegal worker) if a worker is subsequently found to be working illegally. This also protects you from the reputational damage associated with employing illegal workers.
uComply was launched in 2011 and provides comprehensive, easy to use and accurate onboarding processes that ensure both a company’s internal and external checks are completed in one standardised procedure.
