Leading industry awards return with renewed emphasis on raising standards in the cleaning industry
22 May 2017
The Kimberly-Clark Professional Golden Service Awards 2018 will launch its entry process on Thursday 1st June. The awards have evolved to further drive innovation and the continuous improvement of standards in the cleaning industry that deliver optimal results.
Founded in 1991, the biennial awards hosted by Kimberly-Clark Professional have become one of the industry’s most esteemed events, providing the opportunity for contract cleaners and in-house cleaning teams to showcase excellence and set new high benchmarking standards in the cleaning industry.
The company is launching a new-look Golden Service Awards for 2018. “After 25 years hosting the Golden Service Awards, the event has evolved to play a pivotal role in the industry. To ensure that the Awards continue to meet customer and business needs of tomorrow and drive innovation, we have re-focused the event on core industry areas,” Peter Oliver, general manager UK, Ireland and France at Kimberly-Clark Professional, said.
The event will take place on 8 March 2018 at The London Hilton Park Lane, and will be attended by hundreds of senior director and management level representatives from the contract cleaning and facilities management industries. Awards in 14 categories will be presented recognising excellence across healthcare, office, education, retail, manufacturing, hospitality, environmental and training sectors. The Golden Service Award’s Cleaning Operative and Supervisor of the Year awards will conclude the proceedings.
Kimberly-Clark Professional has also announced the return of Diversey Care as gold sponsor with RPC bpi refuse confirmed as an ambassador sponsor. The British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) will independently oversee the judging process which will begin in October with the paper judging stage. Site visits will follow, again managed by BICSc to ensure uniformity and fairness.
Stan Atkins, chief executive officer at the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSs), said: “To stand out this year, you have to demonstrate quality across all areas but most importantly staff training and development alongside a dedication to the consistent quality and continual raising of standards. As judges, we will be looking for clear achievement of excellence and not just if entry specifications are met. The size of the business is not part of the criteria, but a high quality of standards and service is.”
Previous winners have included Mitie, Derrycourt, ISS, Principle Cleaning, Enhance, LCC, Specialised Cleaning Services, Julius Rutherfoord, Vinci Facilities, Enhance, ABM Group UK and Turner Facilities.
To enter the Awards and see how you measure up against a prestigious list of winners and earn the opportunity to promote your achievements as a new industry benchmark - simply download the online form from the website www.goldenserviceawards.co.uk. This form is available from 1st June and must be completed and submitted with all contact information and confirmation of certificates, membership of trade associations, training programmes, Investors in People plus health and safety procedures.

“The 2018 Kimberly-Clark Professional Golden Service Awards are designed to have a stronger focus on raising standards in the industry though innovation, development and investment. We look forward to receiving the entries and wish all entrants best of luck,” Peter Oliver added.
