Build on professionalism

Mike Waterfield has been announced as the new British Damage Management Association (BDMA) chairman.

Mike Waterfield has been announced as the new British Damage Management Association (BDMA) chairman.

Waterfield believes the BDMA's increasing contribution to industry wide collaboration and its promotion of professional best practice will deliver even greater benefits to all stakeholders.

'As a result of working in partnership with the ABI, the CILA, ClimateWise and others, together with the introduction of insurance technician accreditation, our links with the wider insurance industry have never been stronger,' says Waterfield. 'The challenge, moving forward, will be to build on this position. The growing confidence displayed by insurers and loss adjusters in the professionalism of damage management practitioners, and recognition of their ability to deliver a reduction in total claims costs, must be translated into real benefits on the ground.

'This will only be achieved by technically competent individuals delivering appropriate value added solutions across the board.'
