Ryemead Commercial Group, a commercial window cleaning contractor, has won a prestigious award at the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2019 for the second year running.
The Thames Valley Chamber Group proudly represents one of the world's most impressive and vibrant international business communities encompassing Heathrow, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxon and Swindon. The prestigious annual awards ceremony recognises the talents, innovation and entrepreneurship of companies from across the Thames Valley region.
Headquartered in High Wycombe along the M40 corridor, Ryemead is focused on providing high quality, scheduled commercial window cleaning services and holds many key contracts across London and the south east. As a company it has worked hard to build up a reputation for providing the highest level of service for its clients.
The Ryemead Group’s core services include contract window cleaning to all heights, gutter cleaning and repairs, cladding/facade cleaning, superheated steam exterior cleaning, carpet cleaning, grounds maintenance and commercial pressure washing.
Ryemead are proud to service a multitude of prestigious clients including businesses, hotels, property managing agents, daily cleaning companies, facilities management companies and commercial landlords.
Ryemead were named in the final shortlist of four companies, and then went on to scoop the prestigious ‘Small Business of the year’ award. This particular award was hotly contested and was the most entered across the 12 different categories on the night.
The Small Business of The Year Award was open to any organisation employing up to 75 full time members of staff and was sponsored by Generate UK. Entries for this award needed to show consistent business growth backed by a strong financial performance, evidence of the businesses’ commitment to staff, potential for growth, innovation, strong managerial and finance performance, while demonstrating a clear understanding of the market it operates in.
The evening was held at The Hilton Reading on 7th June, hosted by Greg Rutherford MBE; the British track and field athlete, who specialised in long jump and was a gold medallist at the 2012 summer Olympics. In winning, Ryemead became the only company to win awards in two consecutive years at the event. In 2018, Ryemead won the High Growth Business of the year.

Steve Hughes, founder and managing director of Ryemead, established the company in 2013 with a clear vision to shake-up the window cleaning sector of commercial cleaning. In a relatively short space of time, they have developed an immaculate reputation for clear communication, standard of work and professionalism. Turnover has increased by over 500% in 5 years and the company continues to experience rapid growth as they expand their service offering. This organic growth means the company are fully on track to become a £1million plus turnover business by 2020, seven years since starting from scratch. Steve himself is a former professional footballer turned businessman, who started his career at Brentford FC before serious knee injuries unfortunately cut short a promising career at the tender age of 25 while he was playing for Wealdstone FC.
After picking up the latest accolade, Steve said: “We are absolutely honoured to be crowned the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce ‘Small Business of the Year’. It is a wonderful achievement, and testament to our dedicated and ‘best in class’ workforce. To be recognised as the leading small business in the Thames Valley area, makes us very proud. Thank you to the TVCC for a fantastic night, enjoyed by all.”
