Cleaning Show organiser announces Resource Management Show

27 July 2018

Quartz Business Media, organiser of the Cleaning Show, has announced the launch of a new event focused on resource efficiency and waste management.

Called the Resource Management Show – and running alongside the Cleaning Show at London’s ExCeL on 19-21 March 2019 – the event will offer waste and recycling suppliers the opportunity to meet the UK's leading contract cleaners, facilities managers, local authorities, and a wide range of other cleaning and FM-related businesses.

Steve Diprose, managing director of Quartz Business Media, said: “After speaking to a number of our existing exhibitors, visitors and suppliers, we have identified a real demand for a new event to answer current issues facing the resource management sector. Together with our partners, the British Cleaning Council, we found a number of compelling reasons to launch this new event: Brexit will require many companies to adapt their processes, particularly how waste management is handled in terms of trans-frontier shipments, exports and imports; the use of plastics is also a current hot topic, and a wide number of emerging technologies are being developed to break/shred/reprocess plastic materials; and Energy from Waste initiatives are continually evolving to offer effective ways of reducing landfill for many local authorities.

"Add to this new Chinese regulations, vehicles and machinery that utilise alternative fuel sources, and the increasing demand for cost-effective and environmentally friendly products across the cleaning, FM and waste management sectors and the justification for launching this event becomes very clear indeed. In addition, numerous stakeholders have commented positively about the bi-annual frequency and Spring positioning of the event. We look forward to welcoming new exhibitors and visitors in 2019.”

Exhibitors

The Resource Management Show provides an opportunity for recycling and waste management equipment manufacturers/distributors, product suppliers and service solution providers to present their latest offerings and network with thousands of decision makers from local authorities, facility managers, and public and corporate organisations.

Exhibitors will include: bin and waste container manufacturers; street sweeping machine manufacturers; ancillary product suppliers, including brushes, scrubber driers and chemicals; protective workwear suppliers; management and monitoring software providers; and support and tracking system providers.

Visitors

Everyone who has responsibility for waste management, recycling and resources should attend this event. Being positioned alongside the Cleaning Show, the event offers an opportunity for local authorities, construction managers, facility managers, corporate businesses, schools, hospitals, hotels, transport providers, and leisure facilities to rethink the way they manage waste. Registration to attend will be free of charge and will include entrance to educational workshops and networking opportunities.

Steve Diprose said: “This new event – co-located with the largest, best, and longest-established cleaning event in the UK – will provide a forum for visitors to source the latest products and services, view demonstrations and try out equipment first hand; gain knowledge related to key challenges and legislation affecting the industry through free seminars and workshops; learn from a series of free training academy sessions; network at a series of meetings and association events; and generally remain one step ahead of competitors.”

Stan Atkins, chair of the British Cleaning Council which will co-produce The Resource Management Show, added: “Many of our members and exhibitors are already closely involved with the waste management and recycling sectors and there are also big overlaps with the FM space where we are also very active.

“Further, decision making with regards to procuring waste and resource management services is increasingly being handled by the same teams which handle commercial cleaning tenders and related frameworks.

“We therefore feel that adding a second trade exhibition dedicated to resource management to run side-by-side with The Cleaning Show makes a lot of sense, and I am confident that both events will complement each other and drive even more visitors to ExCel next March.”
