Changing the perceptions of carpet cleaning

27 June 2019

Despite the rise in popularity of the minimalist ‘Brooklyn look’ carpet is now more popular than ever as manufacturers continually push the boundaries to offer better colours, better textures and better patterns to a market place driven by consumers who expect innovation.

The carpet industry has responded to these demands, offering both design and function, from new fibre technology and waterproof innovations through to 100% eco-friendly and sustainable options. But with this highly progressive approach to remaining relevant, it just leaves one question; why has the way we clean carpets remained mostly unchanged?

The carpet cleaning industry has never before seen so many opportunities to tailor a bespoke service for customers, so why is the market literally flooded with wet-based systems? Not only does pushing this single method eliminate choice for the consumer, but it also takes a lot of time and resources to do correctly – and who in this day and age has the time to sit and watch carpets dry?

One alternative currently shaking things up is dry carpet cleaning. Previously, this process has taken a bit of a backseat, but now cleaning companies are re-discovering this method to promote a better way of cleaning carpets – one that is not only faster and equally as effective as wet cleaning, but one that also possesses an excellent environmental profile and poses no risk of damage to whatever carpet type is laid.

Cleantec Innovation, the company behind the Envirodri Dry Carpet Cleaning System, are seeing a huge shift towards dry carpet cleaning and are currently growing from strength to strength as more people are making the switch to a new, waterless method of maintaining their carpets with products manufactured right here in the UK.

With their GEN4 Dry Carpet Cleaning Machine and Pro 40 Envirodri Microsponges, Cleantec Innovation want to change the perceptions of carpet cleaning by promoting their CleanSeal and Woolsafe approved, environmentally responsible cleaning materials that are no longer reliant on masses of water and chemicals yet still offer an exceptional clean.

The Envirodri System is the work of over 20 years industry experience to develop a future-proof method that solves modern cleaning issues but also works across virtually any type of flooring – from sisal and coir to wool and synthetics - guaranteeing that whatever the next big trend is, there will always be a way to clean it.

Compared to traditional methods, the system was engineered with simplicity in mind. There is no requirement to fence off areas, close down rooms or fill solution tanks with litres and litres of water. Instead, Microsponges, which are millions of tiny, biodegradable granules moistened with detergent, are spread across the floor and brushed in using the Envirodri GEN4 Dry Carpet Cleaning Machine. As the microsponges come into contact with soiling they break it down and absorb it. The microsponges are then vacuumed away to reveal a dry, clean, deodorised carpet that is ready for immediate use.

Carpet cleaning can, and should evolve with the times, so as more people discover and choose Envirodri Dry Carpet Cleaning for their flooring we all benefit from a reduction in waste and an increase in quality backed by a British made product. Restoring both floors and faith in the carpet cleaning industry.
