Diversey Care applauds winners of hand hygiene contest
14 July 2015
Sealed Air’s Diversey Care division has announced the three grand prize winners of its second annual global hand hygiene competition.
The contest, which raises awareness for the benefits of clean hands around the World Health Organization’s (WHO’s) World Hand Hygiene Day, encouraged individuals to submit photos of hands, including a short description on why those hands are worth protecting. Participants were able to upload them through the competition website or share them on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #handsonmyheart. Each winner will receive an iPad Air 2.
"Just like last year, this year’s entries used creativity and emotion to highlight the importance of proper hand hygiene, making it tough to pick just three winners," said Dr. Ilham Kadri, President, Diversey Care. "We’re thrilled to see people from around the world recognising that clean hands can save lives. Congratulations to our winners and thank you to all contest participants."
Entries were received from all over the world, including a sizable increase in participants from Asia and Latin America. The winners were judged on how their stories and creativity touched the judges’ hearts.
The grand prize winners include:
1. First place - Hillary Connon, United Kingdom: Hilary shared a photo of herself and her mother embracing for one of the last times.
2. Second place - Katleen De Blaere, Belgium: Katleen works for a mental health rehabilitation centre and shared a photo of herself having fun with one of the patients.
3. Third place - Diana Buus, Denmark: Diana shared a photo of her young daughter’s hands and captioned it with her hopes for her daughter’s future
