Chinese hotel cleaners caught cleaning mugs with toilet brushes
10 January 2018
Cleaners at high-end Chinese hotels have been caught on camera cleaning guests' mugs with toilet brushes which are subsequently used to scrub the toilet and bath.
Undercover reporters filmed staff at a luxury hotel in china cleaning guests' tea cups with toilet brushes, which they then used to scrub the toilet. The staff were also filmed washing a bath mat in the bathtub as well as dipping bath towels into toilet water.
Seven minutes of footage was covertly taken at three hotels in, Harbin, China, where guests are charged between £319 and £370 per night.
A staff member was filmed using a toilet brush to clean mugs before using the same brush on the inside of a toilet. The brush was then dried using bath towels and replaced in its stand. Another worker is then heard telling an undercover reporter, who was posing as a cleaner at the hotel, to not worry about sterilising the cups.
Meanwhile at a different hotel, though also in Harbin, a cleaner was seen cleaning tea cups, the waste paper bin and the toilet using the same cloth.
