BICSc rewards cleaning operatives in Northern Ireland

30 October 2014

The British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) has held its Cleaning Operative Of The Year Awards for the Northern Ireland region at Belfast City Hall.

The category finalists were all in attendance along with their company representatives and other invited guests. The Chairman of BICSc, Bill McMillan, as well as BICSc CEO Stan Atkins were also in attendance to give their keynote speech and assist with awards presentations. In keeping with tradition, the winners were announced on the day.

The deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast opened the awards by welcoming everyone to Belfast City Hall. The sponsors as well as this year’s keynote speech focused on the traditionally unnoticed but admirable work that cleaning operatives in the industry carry out on daily basis.

BICSc chairman Bill McMillan said: "I think it is really important to acknowledge that it is through the hard work and dedication of the members of the BICSc Northern Ireland committee in organising these events each year that we are able to showcase the talent and dedication of the cleaning operatives within the cleaning industry in Northern Ireland. An industry that to the general public is almost invisible but is invaluable to the daily life in our schools, hospitals, universities, offices, factories and council buildings."

He added: "It is a recognised fact that through quality training and assessing; employers will reap the benefits of a workforce that feels valued, that leads to increased productivity, which in turn results in higher customer satisfaction and reduced levels of staff turnover. All of this I believe points to a bright and progressive future within the Northern Irish cleaning industry."
