07 October 2014

The European Tissue Symposium (ETS) will present new study results at Eunetips and the HIS (Healthcare Infection Society) Conference 2014, taking place respectively November 15-16 and 16-18, 2014 in the Lyon Convention Centre in France.

The HIS Conference 2014 takes place in cooperation with the French Society for Hospital Hygiene.

On 15th-16th November, prior to the HIS Conference 2014, Eunetips, the European network to promote infection prevention for patient safety, is hosting a dedicated membership only event. On Saturday November 15th, Professor Mark Wilcox of the University of Leeds and Leeds Teaching Hospitals, will be presenting the peer reviewed results of his recent aerosolisation study to a selective audience.

The conclusions of the study conducted by Professor Wilcox will have significant implications for infection control health professionals everywhere. Mr. Roberto Berardi, ETS chairman, is looking forward to the feedback of healthcare professionals.

He said: "The study by Prof. Wilcox has revealed important insights into washroom hygiene. This meticulous work is likely to have a significant impact on washroom management globally."

On November 18th, Professor Mark Wilcox  and Keith Redway will officially present their studies into the propensity of three commonly used methods of hand drying to aerosolise and disperse bacteria into the environment to the HIS Conference 2014 attendees. The presentations are part of the official symposium program and will be given from 8am until 9am at the Pasteur Lounge (room 294).

The biennial HIS Conference gathers some 1000 professionals from around the world to discuss the very latest research and best practices in infection prevention and control. Visitors to ETS stand No. 19 will receive more detailed information on the study results, as well as in-depth information on the importance of tissue as a hygienic hand drying method.
