Professional mould removal in healthcare facilities 15/06/2022

THE PRESENCE of mould in any facility is concerning, but even more so in a healthcare facility where vulnerable people may be present. It is therefore a top priority for healthcare managers to reduce the chances of mould growth in this setting.

ICE Cleaning is a specialist cleaning company that operates nationwide and provides effective mould remediation services. Using advanced equipment and techniques during the process, ICE Cleaning’s technicians will restore your property to a safe environment for you to occupy once more.

In this article, the experts explore the reasons that professional mould removal is a necessity within healthcare facilities.

Protecting patients

The occurrence of mould can cause various health implications, especially for those with allergies or vulnerable people such as the elderly, children, or those who suffer with weakened immune systems.

As a result, any mould found in healthcare facilities must be dealt with straight away to lessen the likelihood of illness. Specialist cleaners can often attend the site quickly to deal with these issues. For instance, ICE Cleaning’s specialists are able to arrive on premises within an hour to begin work.

Severe consequences are possible if your healthcare facilities are not seen as a safe place to treat people, such as the building being investigated or even shut down in more grave instances. To avoid this, be proactive with having the issue handled.

Industry expertise

Professional cleaning technicians have a wealth of expertise from their experience within the industry, and are well-prepared to treat mould in different kinds of settings.

Using their knowledge and skills, they will be able to significantly improve the air quality within the premises to ensure it is safe for patients and staff alike to inhabit.

As part of ICE Cleaning’s mould remediation service, customers are given the option to have their mould spores tested in a lab to establish the source of the problem. This helps the team identify the best solution for you and achieve the best results for your personal situation.

Experienced technicians will also follow strict safety regulations during the clean to protect the health of all parties involved, which is important around all types of mould growth. This could involve isolating the area while work is taking place or wearing full personal protective equipment (PPE).

Prevent staff absences

If there is mould within the facility, this may lead to an increased number of absences from staff too. This will make it difficult for you to operate at full capacity and provide effective services for your patients.

Additionally, it could result in staff being unsatisfied with their working environment, as their safety cannot be ensured if mould is visible in the facility. Call in the professionals to remediate the issue quickly to prevent such issues from taking place.

Professional pest control in educational facilities 27/05/2022

ENCOUNTERING PESTS is always an uncomfortable situation, and something which needs to be tackled efficiently. Infestations in educational facilities can harm the health of students and staff, so need to be dealt with accordingly.

ICE Cleaning, a specialist provider of cleaning services, offer a range of pest control solutions to remove traces of infestation. In emergency situations, their teams can be on site within the hour to start work.

Here, they delve into the importance of professional pest control should an infestation occur in educational facilities.

Rapid pest removal

Pest control specialists will work with you to understand the situation and come up with a solution that best meets your needs.

Here at ICE Cleaning, we utilise the newest industry tools and equipment to deal with pest problems at their root. Our technicians will follow all necessary health and safety procedures throughout the clean, working hard to get your facility back up and running as soon as it is safe to do so.

Calling in the professionals quickly will reduce any disruption that may be caused by the infestation. Once the problem has been handled, students will be able to attend classes once more in a safe environment without having to worry about their health from the presence of pests.

Providing a safe space to study

It is important that education providers give a safe space to study for students and a safe space to work for staff.

There are numerous health risks associated with pests, which you will wish to avoid in order to protect the well-being of those under your care.

It will be worrying for parents if it is found that you have a pest problem in your facility, so every effort needs to be made to remedy the issue speedily. Our technicians are able to provide a deep decontamination following the work as well, so the area is restored to a fresh and clean condition.

Hiring in pest controllers promptly also shows staff that you are taking their safety seriously, and that all steps to make them feel secure in the workplace are being taken.

Structure of the building

Additionally, pests may damage the structure of your building in some cases. For instance, rats are known to gnaw through facades and electrics to gain access to buildings. These problems can become more severe the longer a pest infestation is left untreated.

Having issues with the safety of the building could become expensive to repair, and mean that day-to-day operations are even more disrupted.

The reputation of your facility may also come under pressure if both the structure of the building and the safety of those under your charge becomes a concern. This is why it is so important to call in the professionals as soon as you notice pests to help you remove them.

Mould remediation services 13/01/2022

FOLLOWING AN extended period of closure due to COVID-19 lockdown restrictions, London Museum of Water and Steam appointed Ice Cleaning to provide a specialist mould remediation service to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and safety were achieved for returning visitors.

Based in South-West London, the popular tourist attraction is home to the world's largest collection of stationary steam pumping engines, with thousands of people visiting the museum each year to learn about the history of London's water supply.

Ahead of reopening its doors to the public, London Museum of Water and Steam appointed Ice Cleaning to deliver a bespoke mould remediation service throughout its Georgian pumping house, which was split into four stages to ensure maximum efficiency.

The team of highly trained technicians used a HEPA-rated vacuum to remove any loose mould, which was then supported by the application of an antimicrobial agent. The affected areas were also wiped down to remove any surface mould, with the team conducting a high-performance fogging service to kill any airborne mould spores.

As part of the service, all affected areas were also treated with Ice Cleaning's unique and persistent Ice Shield solution, which guarantees full surface protection against harmful bacteria, viruses and fungi for at least 28 days.

"Ice Cleaning took on a challenge at our museum, working around the original cast iron engines that were the first to pump clean water into London,” says Melissa Maynard, freelance project manager at London Museum of Water and Steam. “Its technicians were respectful of these artefacts and the historic building, and quickly ensured that the mould was a thing of the past."

Independently tested and proven to be a superior method of treatment for removing mould in environments with medium levels of bacteria, Ice Shield's high performance fogging method delivers the highest standards of cleanliness and enduring protection and was applied free of charge as part of the service.

Upon completion, London Museum of Water and Steam received a 28-day decontamination certificate that evidenced the continued defence against the recurrence of mould and bacteria.

Zac Hemming, managing director of Ice Cleaning, comments: "Many tourist attractions like London Museum of Water & Steam suffered greatly from long periods of closure during the pandemic. Therefore, it was vital that all necessary precautions were taken to protect the health & safety of both the public and its employees when the museum was able to open its doors once again.

"Using innovative techniques and industry-leading equipment, our team of highly trained experts were able to successfully remove the mould, both on the surface and in the air, transforming the Georgian pumping house into a safe and clean environment for visitors and families to enjoy.

"Several steps were taken to avoid potential hazards arising during the process, which included our technicians carrying out a comprehensive risk assessment prior to beginning the work and wearing personal protective equipment whilst dealing with any harmful chemicals."
