Height training booming
October 1st 2006

AFI Aerial Platforms reports a big increase in bookings for its IPAF powered access operator courses and PASMA mobile access tower training courses.

The company is also taking part in a scheme which offers discounts to people attending training courses to gain their PAL Card (Powered Access Licences) issued by IPAF.

As a result, the company has appointed two new training instructors. AFI director Graham Osmond says:"There has been tremendous demand for courses which cover the safe and appropriate use of harnesses. IPAF strongly recommends that a full body harness with an adjustable lanyard is used when working from a boom lift, and our course looks at aspects such as harness suitability, fitting and adjustment, anchorage points, record keeping and inspection."

In addition to harness training, AFI offers harnesses for sale, together with a new device that is designed to cut the risk of trauma injuries if operators fall from a machine and are then suspended by their safety harness.
