PFI contract
April 1st 2004

The OCS Group has taken on almost every aspect of facilities management at a new PFI hospital, the Herts & Essex Community Hospital in Bishops Stortford. From catering to pest control and building maintenance to laundry, with a multitude of services in between, OCS provides services that help to make the hospital a pleasant environment for patients, staff and visitors. All permanent staff from the old hospital were transferred under TUPE to OCS, enabling continuity of service, expertise and experience. Additional personnel have been appointed to handle a range of new services. The new staffing structure provides a single point of contact for all services through OCS on-site facilities manager, Jill Smith. Both Ryhurst and the Trust now beneft from a straightforward system that indicates the level of service that OCS is providing. Steve Jameson, head of operations for Ryhurst comments OCS works to a pre-agreed set of Key Performance Indicators, or KPIs, for each and every task at the hospital. The KPIs are essential to demonstrate how efficiently OCS is operating and provide easy to understand instructions for staff, enabling them to respond appropriately in different scenarios.
