For height access ideas above your station
December 1st 2006

With 12,000 pains of glass, 9,000 lamps, 2,000 fire extinguishers and 9,000 sprinklers, Berlin's main rail station makes extreme demands on those who clean and maintain the building. However, this was taken into account by the building owners and designers, who partnered with Teupen to provide special height access.

As well as numerous machines developed for roof work, a special access platform LB07 is used for maintenance work on the long distance lines.A telescopic straight boom with a 10m wide chassis mounted on a crawler under carriage, the LB07 has to operate at the same time as electric trains whose pantographs are in contact with overhead power cables. So the LB07 has to keep a minimum 1.5m distance from high voltage power cables.

Another special access platform is used on the inner-city platforms, with bumpers and sensors to prevent collision in an area with high passenger density.
