People in glass houses need AFI October 1st 2006 With the Liverpool Daily Post & Echo's landmark building being constructed in a highly reflective glass, it's essential to keep it sparkling clean – and that's where a powered access machine from AFI-Uplift came into its own. PG Ashcroft (Window Cleaning & Maintenance Services) hired an AFIUplift boom lift for three days to help operatives give the whole exterior of the newspapers offices a thorough wash and clean. AFI-Uplift's 16m Haulotte H16TPX boom was used to its full capacity to clean the cylindrical glass building. PG Ashcroft took advantage of both the boom's full height and its 9.2 outreach to provide quick, easy and safe access. "We were after both height and manoeuvrability," says PG Ashcroft's Peter Ashcroft."AFI always advises us on which equipment is best suited to each job and have trained our operatives in the safe use of the equipment – which enables us to work safely, efficiently and costeffectively."
