Stopping long-term strain
February 1st 2004 Ionic Systems Reach & Wash System is now to benefit from a totally new Ultra-lite carbon fibre waterfed pole. Responding to concerns about repetitive strain injury which may be a long term effect of using Hi-reach waterfed poles, Ionic Systems has undertaken a from the ground up re-design of their Reach & Wash poles resulting in a 30% weight reduction.
The new pole now features eight sections instead of six, this allows for an overall reduction in the length of the sections used. A 45ft pole previously made from 8ft sections is now made from 6ft sections, making it possible to extend the pole vertically as the clamps are now within easy reach. 60ft poles previously made from 12ft sections are now made from 8ft sections making it easier to stow them within most vehicles without the need to carry them on a roof rack.
Despite the extra sections the handle section is now just 50mm in diameter instead of the old 60mm making the handle more comfortable to hold. This is possible because of the finer tolerance fit between tubes. As well as being lighter the new tubes are also more rigid which means that it is now possible to produce a 72ft pole, previously the tallest carbon fibre pole available was 60ft.
The Ultra-lite profiles made exclusively for Ionic Systems also feature a new clamp design as well as a new no grub-screw head and gooseneck attachment making brush changes both quick and easy.
