From chocs away to top franchisee
December 1st 2009

Mark Thompson (left with Chemex MD Melvin Lusty) was one of hundreds to lose their jobs when the Terry's confectionery factory closed in York.Using his redundancy payment to invest in his own business,Thompson bought a franchise in Chemex International, a leading supplier of cleaning and hygiene products. Four years on he has now been voted Franchisee of the Year.

Thompson's York based franchise has more than doubled its turnover since 2005.He supplies a wide array of businesses across the county including local authorities, care homes, hotels and restaurants and schools and colleges.

"Being made redundant was a terrible blow at the time," says Thompson,"but since setting up in business I have never looked back."
