Broadening the skills base
June 1st 2010

Formerly MITIE's Group Training Manager, and extensively qualified in cleaning science, Pat O'Mara has been appointed by the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) as chief education and accreditation officer. Her principal remit with BICSc will be to review the products that the Institute offers and to tailor them to various scenarios in the cleaning industry. She will be looking at how best to engage with operatives and employers to broaden the skills base in the cleaning industry.

Her tasks will also include a role in the development and growth of the new European Accreditation Standards for cleaning equipment and systems manufactured and/or marketed by Corporate Members of the Institute.

"BICSc, as an awarding body, can provide opportunities and choices for individuals," comments O'Mara.

"If you have an education, you allow yourself choices."
