Making a MITIE effort for charity October 1st 2009 A team of four from MITIE, has
swum 13 miles to raise money
for one of MITIE's regional
charities, the UK children's
cancer charity, CLIC Sargent.The
team covered a total distance
equal to a half
marathon, taking just
over three hours to
complete 1040
lengths of the pool
raising over £2,000.
Every day 10 families are told
that their child has cancer.
Diagnosis often comes as a
shock.Treatment usually starts
straightaway and can last up to
three years. CLIC Sargent
provides clinical, practical and
emotional support.
The fundraising efforts were
greatly helped by the staff at the
St. Pierre Marriott Hotel &
Country Club in Chepstow,who
gave the team free use
of their pool for the
evening and provided
drinks and towels for
the swimmers.
"We were delighted to be
able to raise so much money,"
says swimmer, Clive Russell, a
director for MITIE's cleaning and
environmental business. More articles from MITIE Cleaning & Environmental Services Ltd: |
