A song and dance over cleaning April 1st 2010 Byotrol Technology has
helped a Lancashire folk dance
outfit with an unusual cleaning
dilemma. Each Easter Saturday
since 1857, the Britannia
Coconutters have
performed a 12-
hour dance
marathon in
Bacup,
Lancashire,
wearing their
traditional
regalia of
blackened faces,
white hats, clogs and red and
white kilts.
The ritual, known as 'Beating
the Bounds' sees the 'Nutters'
dance from one boundary of
Bacup to the other, taking in
several pubs and the landmark
'Nutters Garden' along the way.
Winter weather can leave the
flagstones in the 'Nutters
Garden' with a coating of algae
and, as the nutters wear
traditional iron-clad Lancashire
clogs, this can prove slippy.
Richard Lewis, a troupe member
approached Byotrol to help
them clean up the area having
used their products successfully
for cleaning algae off his
greenhouse and making his
own flagged garden paths safe.
Byotrol provided some of
their specialist outdoor cleaner,
Inhibitor. It disrupts the
reproductive cycle of the
microscopic spores which cause
algal growth, yet is non-toxic. More articles from Byotrol: |
