With Health and Safety issues becoming more important, LCC Support Services is introducing a safe, ladder-less reach and wash extendable water-fed window cleaning facility to the core package of services it offers. Accidents occurring to window cleaners involving the use of portable ladders can be avoided. Figures reported to the HSE and local authorities reveal there are 6 to 10 deaths each year and some 30 to 40 cleaners suffering major injuries, with many resulting in permanent disability, as a result of falls from ladders. Proposed legal changes resulting from European Directives on working at heights will further tighten the law, so intensifying the responsibility of the building owner, occupier, contractor and the individual window cleaner. Good working practice limits the use of portable ladders to heigh of 9m.
