Supermarket retailer ASDA has appointed recycled tissue company, Kruger Tissue, to service all of its 336 stores across the UK

The Manchester based company is supporting ASDA's policy to reduce waste and encourage respect for the environment. The supermarket believes that Kruger's 100% recycled tissue offers significant waste saving and cost in use benefit. The contract was won after a successful trial in Chorley, managed by Kruger's national account manager, Lee Jurgens.

"We want to help our customers live more sustainable lifestyles," explains Chris Woodcock, ASDA's consumables buyer,"That's why it's important that our tissues are made from 100% recycled material as well as being dispensed through a system that helps reduce the overall volume used.Kruger Tissue was able to demonstrate they could meet both of these requirements - a major factor when awarding them the business." "Balancing the need between cost in use, functionality and the need to be environmentally aware was quite a challenge,"continues Lee Jurgens.

"However the partnership approach we adopt when working with large accounts such as ASDA means we are able to answer all their needs and provide the right solution". ASDA has moved from using traditional bulk pack tissue to the more environmentally friendly and cost effective Twin Jumbo, dispensed using Da Vinci Hygiene Systems, as well as Centrefeeds and Hand Towels.
