BWCA bolsters its training
April 1st 2006

The British Window Cleaning Academy, UK training provider and City & Guilds Centre is rolling out a further ten courses and opening two new regional training centres The original four courses have proved popular and will continue to run," says BWCA founder Craig Mawlam. "It was clear that window cleaners needed access to more training, and this expanded programme will provide that. For example, new legislation, in particular the Working at Height Regulations 2005, are having a major impact and is an issue which causes much concern. The new Portable Ladder Access course will focus on this."

Better access to the courses is also being provided by he opening of traditional facilities in the the North East."Until recently the BWCA's only training centre was in Wiltshire. This allowed students adequate space and opportunity to easily practice the use of equipment, develop their skills using ground floor windows, and use poles at working height no matter what the weather was like. We were also able to make use of building features we had specially installed and this was a great benefit," says Mawlam.

"I decided it would be a big step forward to be able to offer these same benefits at different locations, and with this in mind were opening a further training centre in Newcastle.

We've also upgraded the facility in Wiltshire. It is now in a bigger building with an enlarged lecture area and even better building features.

The new course programme will cover subjects such as Portable Ladder Access, Manual Handling and Harness Appreciation.
